IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University's
Ronald Blain and
Ryan Godges were honored with PacWest Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Awards by the conference office for their play last week.
Blain, a senior forward from McDonough, Ga./Union Grove, was selected the PacWest Defender of the Week.
Godges, a redshirt freshman from Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos, was honored as the PacWest Freshman of the Week.
Godges led the Sharks in scoring for the week in a pair of wins in the Pacific Northwest. Coming off the bench, he averaged 13.0 points with 2.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and shot 8-of-15 from the field -- all 3-pointers -- hitting 53.3 percent and hitting 2-of-2 from the foul line. He led HPU with 18 points at Northwest Indian with three assists and four rebounds, and collected eight points with two assists at Northwest University.
Blain averaged a double-double for the week, with 12.0 points and 10.0 rebounds the victories on the road in the Pacific Northwest. He shot 50.0 percent from the field (9-of-18), went 2-of-6 (33.3 percent) from the 3-point arc and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He also led HPU by averaging 2.0 steals and dished out 2.0 assists while blocking one shot. Blain scored 18 points with 10 boards with a block and a steal at Northwest University, and had 10 rebounds with six points, three assists and three steals in 16 minutes at Northwest Indian.
Joining the HPU duo in the weekly awards is Azusa Pacific's Selom Mawugbe who was named the PacWest Player of the Week.
The Sharks are idle until they visit the Stan Sheriff Center to play the University of Hawai'i on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.
