LINCOLN, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific University women held their position and finished 10th at the Holy Names Mikuni Sushi Shootout at the Catta Vedera Country Club on Tuesday.
The Sharks recorded a team score of 340 in the final round for a score of 683 for 10th, 11 strokes better than Cal State LA's 694 in 11th and well behind Point Loma at 648 in ninth.
Cal State San Marcos won the team event, with a sub-par 279 round on Tuesday for a 3-over-par 579, 29 strokes ahead of Academy of Art in second at 609 and 30 strokes in front of Cal State Monterey Bay in third at 609 in the 13 team event.
The Sharks were paced on Tuesday by senior
Lexandra So of West Covina, Calif./West Covina who fired a 9-over 81 on the par 72, 5,986-yard tournament layout at Catta Vedera. Senior Pranisa "Mint" Chimsuti of Pathumtani, Thailand/Satit Bilingual School was a stroke behind at 10-over 82, with senior
Kaia Takaki from Honolulu/Kalani adding a second 84. So finished with a 167, Takaki a 168 and Chimsuti at 170. Senior
Mika Walker of Honolulu/Kaiser carded a 93 for a 178 and freshman
Misheel Sodgerel of St. Louis, Mo./Clayton put up a 103 to finish at 208.
Breann Horn of Cal State San Marcos fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to win the individual title with an even-par 144. CSUSM's Claire Hogle also fired a 68 to finish in a three-way tie for second with Point Loma's Alli Kim and Academy of Art's Iveta Poslendi at 1-over 145.
The HPU women will have some time before their next competition. The Sharks play in Hawai'i's Anuenue Spring Break Classic March 21-23 at the Waikaloa Beach Course on the Big Island.
