Sharks Curry Named PacWest Conference Softball Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University senior Jordan Curry has been honored as the PacWest Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance during the eight games of last week.
 
Curry, a 6-0 senior from Farmington, N.M./Farmington, excelled in both the pitching circle and the batter's box in her utility role. She posted a 3-1 record as a pitcher over the week, striking out 12 batters in 26 innings, with a 2.69 ERA, with four complete games including a 14-0 shutout of Notre Dame de Namur. At the plate, she led the Sharks with a .444 batting average for the week going 8-for-18 with four RBIs and three runs scored in starting seven of the eight games in the week.
 
Curry sports an 11-3 record overall this season in the circle – the most wins in the PacWest this season. She has 40 strikeouts and leads the PacWest in batters caught looking at strike three with 21, while leading the league with 90.2 innings pitched. She's 20th in the PacWest in batting average with a .346 mark overall with nine RBIs.
 
Joining Curry in the PacWest weekly honors are Hawai'i Hilo's Isabelle Mejia as Pitcher of the Week and Concordia Irvine's Megan Massa as the Freshman of the Week.
 
The Sharks (17-11, 11-3) continue their southern California road trip as they face Biola in a pair of doubleheaders today (Monday) and Tuesday, with both at Freedom Field scheduled to start at 1 p.m. HST (4 p.m. PDT). Then on Thursday and Friday they visit Concordia Irvine for doubleheaders that start at 10 a.m. HST (1 p.m. PDT) at Eagles Field.
