MURRIETA, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University placed four players in the top six led tournament champion
Zach Kwan as the Sharks won the 2019 Biola Spring Invitational at the Bear Creek Golf Club.
The Sharks posted the best rounds of the tournament with a 309 and a 311 to win by 39 strokes at 947, besting host Biola who was second at 986. Vanguard (Calif.) was third at 996, Providence Christian fourth at 997 and Hope International fifth at 1034.
Kwan, a senior from Sacramento, Calif./Granite Bay, fired rounds of 5-over 77 and 6-over 78 to finish with a 234. That was two strokes better than sophomore teammate
Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International who posted a 4-over 76 and the tournament's best single round of 2-over 74 to finish second at 236 on the par 72, 7,188-yard Bear Creek Course that is the home to stage two of the PGA Qualifying School.
Senior
Chad Vander Dussen of Rancho Murieta, Calif./Pleasant Grove tied for fourth at 240, after an 84 and a 77. Senior
Masato Yoshitsugu of Aichi, Japan/Bluffton S.C. Heritage Academy finished sixth at 241, with a 4-over 76 and an 82.
Providence Christian's Marc Lengtat was third at 239, as Biola's Kyle McAbee tied with Vander Dussen at 240.
Sharks senior
Chris McKnight of Wilton, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks tied for 15th at 254 with rounds of 80 and 86 on Monday.
The Sharks are idle until the PacWest Conference Championships April 22-24 at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield, Ariz.
