TEMPE, Ariz. –he Hawai'i Pacific University women's tennis team dropped one position to No. 5 in this week's Oracle/ITA Division II Women's Tennis Rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Sharks, 7-3 overall, remained in the first five as the ITA switched to its computerized national rankings for the remainder of the season.
The Sharks have a rating of 63.98 to rank fifth, just behind Central Oklahoma in fourth at 64.13 and ahead of Nova Southeastern (Fla.) in sixth at 63.60. Barry (Fla.) is first with a rating of 83.55, with Indianapolis (Ind.) second at 70.00 and Saint Leo (Fla.) third at 65.83.
Lynn (Fla.) is seventh at 58.15, Washburn (Kan.) eighth at 47.93, Azusa Pacific ninth at 50.57 and North Georgia 10th at 49.20. Academy of Art is 11th at 46.21.
The Sharks have three players ranked nationally in singles, led by junior
Elodie Busson of Poille Sur Vegre, France/Academy of Nantes who is ranked ninth with a rating of 33.62. Junior
Elisa Elhadj of Basel, Switzerland/CNED France is ranked 54th at 9.76 and junior
Mihoki Miyahara of Tosu City, Japan/Aomori Yamada is ranked 73rd at 6.42.
The Sharks do not have a doubles pair ranked this week.
The HPU women are in action next week when they host Division III California Lutheran on Tuesday at Ala Moana Park and Division I Santa Clara on Wednesday at the UH Tennis Center.
