IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University's
Sirasit Prateepmongkol has been selected as the PacWest Men's Golfer of the Week for his play in the Las Vegas Desert Classic this week.
Prateepmongkol, a sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International, led the Sharks to an eighth place finish on the "ninth island" in the tournament with nine nationally ranked teams out of the 15-team field. He placed 16th in the 56-hole event with a 2-over-par 218 that included two rounds of 1-under 71.
The Sharks finished with an 883, four strokes out of fourth, and head of No. 32 Washburn (Kan.), No. 45 Central Oklahoma, No. 26 Wingate (N.C.) and No. 39 Colorado Mesa.
Prateepmongkol is joined in the weekly honors by PacWest Women's Golfer of the Week Anahi Servin of Academy of Art.
HPU's men are in action again in about two weeks as they play in the Biola Spring Invitational March 17 and 18 at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, Calif.
