LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a second round team total of 307 to slip from second to fifth of the 2019 PacWest Conference Championships at the Wigwam Resort's Gold Course on Monday.
The Sharks struggled on Tuesday, with no player putting up an under par round as they slid down the leaderboard, and now trails tournament leader Dominican by 17 strokes. Domincan posted a 292 to hold a one stroke lead at 588. Holy Names tallied the best team round of the tournament with a 289 in the second to pull within a stroke at 589. Academy of Art and Hawai'i Hilo remain tied at third, each putting up a 298 to total 597.
Notre Dame de Namur is sixth at 608, Biola is seventh at 610 and Chaminade eighth at 617.
HPU was led on the day by senior
Chad Vander Dussen of Rancho Murieta, Calif./Pleasant Grove who fired a 2-over-par 74 on the par 72, 7008-yard Gold Course to total 147 and sit in a tie for eighth. Vander Dussen had a birdie on each nine, but had one bogey on the front side and three on the back side.

Zach Kwan of Sacramento, Calif./Granite Bay, started the day in third. But after starting his round with two birdies and two bogeys, the senior had three more bogeys before a double bogey on No. 17 to card a 5-over 77 to move down to a tie for 13th at 148.

Masato Yoshitsugu of Aichi, Japan/Bluffton S.C. Heritage Academy turned in a 6-over 78 for a 154, while sophomore
Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International also turned in a 6-over 78 for a 157. Senior
Chris McKnight of Wilton, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks reported an 82 for a 160 total.
Dominican's Nick Rivera is atop the individual leader board after an even-par 72 for a 2-under 142 through two rounds. He's one ahead of Notre Dame de Namur's Caleb Keohokapu who dropped a stroke with a 1-over 73 to sit at 1-under 143. Chaminade's Desmond Mello equaled the best round of the tournament thus far with a 2-under 70 to tie for third at even-par 144 with Hawai'i Hilo's Andrew Otani. Otani shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday.
Championship Day is Wednesday at the Wigwam, with the Sharks playing in the middle pairing with NDNU and UH Hilo. The three teams begin their tee times at 4:50 a.m. HST (7:50 a.m. MST) from the first tee on the Gold Course.
