LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Hawai'i Pacific University recorded a final round total of 301 to finish fifth Wednesday at the 2019 PacWest Conference Championships at the Wigwam Resort's Gold Course.
The Sharks finished with a total of 906 in fifth, two strokes ahead of Biola in sixth at 908, five in front of Notre Dame de Namur in seventh at 911. But the Sharks were 21 strokes behind Hawai'i Hilo in fourth with an 885.
Holy Names posted a final round 290 to win the tournament at 879, holding off Academy of Art who had the best team round of the tournament with a 285 for an 882 and Dominican who faded with a 294 for an 882 to tie for second. Chaminade was eighth at 936.
Senior
Chad Vander Dussen of Rancho Murieta, Calif./Pleasant Grove finished sixth on the individual leaderboard, carding a 1-under-par 71 for the round on the par 72, 7008-yard Gold Course for a 2-over 218. But the best round for the Sharks in the tournament was turned in on Wednesday as senior
Masato Yoshitsugu of Aichi, Japan/Bluffton S.C. Heritage Academy who fired a 2-under 70 and moved to a tie for 16th at 8-over 228.
Senior
Zach Kwan of Sacramento, Calif./Granite Bay added an 8-over 80 to finish 24th at 228, while sophomore
Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International put up an 80 for a 237 and senior
Chris McKnight of Wilton, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks finished with an 81 for a 241.
Holy Names' Heete Yang fired the best round of the tournament with a 4-under 68 to win the individual title at 3-under 213. He was three strokes better than the tie for second between Academy of Art teammates Otto Homruen and Gabriel Manotoc at even-par 216.
With the PacWest Championship, the Sharks season comes to a close.
