SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific University women are 13th after an opening round 327 in the Sonoma State Spring Invitational on Monday at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
The Sharks are two strokes behind 12th place Dominican (Calif.) at 325 and four behind Montana State Billings in 11th at 323. HPU is nine strokes better than Cal State LA in 14th with a 336.
Academy of Art leads the team event with an opening round 298, one stroke ahead of host Sonoma State at 299 and two in front of a third place tie between Point Loma and Concordia Portland at 300.
The Sharks were paced on the day by senior Pranisa "Mint" Chimsuti of Pathumtani, Thailand/Satit Bilingual School who toured the par 72, 6,000-yard Santa Rosa layout at 8-over-par 80.

Lexandra So of West Covina, Calif./West Covina, carded a 9-over 81, with senior
Kaia Takaki from Honolulu/Kalani posting a 10-over 82. Sophomore
Marli Koba of Seattle/Garfield added an 84, while senior
Mika Walker of Honolulu/Kaiser recorded an 85.
ART U's Anahi Servin leads the players leaderboard, firing a 2-under 70 in the opening round. She is two strokes ahead of Concordia Portland's Shantel Antonio at even-par 72 in second and three ahead of Biola's Jules Loibl at 1-over 73 in third.
The final round of the tournament is set for Tuesday with a 6 a.m. HST (9 a.m. PDT) shotgun start at Santa Rosa G&CC. The Sharks are paired with Cal State LA, Menlo and a group of individual golfers starting on holes 16-18.
