Sharks Finish 12th At Saint Martin's Invitational

DuPONT, Wash. – Hawai'i Pacific University held steady in the final round of the Saint Martin's Invitational, finishing in 12th at The Home Course.
 
The Sharks posted a final round 293 for a three-round total of 883 for 12th, eight strokes better than Montana State Billings at 891. HPU was 12 strokes behind Concordia Portland in 11th at 871 and 15 strokes off of Hawai'i Hilo in 10th at 868.
 
The Sharks were led in the final round by senior Minsu Lee of San Jose, Calif./Willow Glen, who toured the par 72, 6,944 Home Course layout in 1-under-par 71. Junior Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley slipped a bit with a 1-over 73. Torres finished two strokes ahead of Lee for the tournament, with Torres at even-par 216 to tie at 23rd, while Lee totaled 2-over 218 for a tie at 33rd.
 
Sophomore Keli'iokalani Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama shot a 1-over 73 in the final round to finish at 227, with freshman Blake Mullen of Overland Park, Kan./Olathe East posting a 4-over 76 for a 227. Sophomore Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International added a 79 for a 230 total.
 
British Columbia's Ethan de Graaf fired his third consecutive 4-under 68 to win the individual title with a 12-under 204, one stroke better than Western Washington's Ethan Castro and Northwest Nazarene's Isaac Emerson who finished at 11-under 205. Both Castro and Emerson blazed a 6-under 66 in the final round.
 
Simon Fraser ran away with the team title. The Clan posted a team round of 11-under 277 to finish at 31-under 833, 16 strokes better than Dixie State in second, who also had a 277 for a 15-under 849. Western Washington and host Saint Martin's tied for third at 8-under 856. Eight of the 14 teams in the field finished under-par for the event.
 
The Sharks travel a little farther north for their second tournament of the season opening visit to the Pacific Northwest. HPU plays in the Western Washington Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Bellingham Country Club in Bellingham, Wash.
