BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Hawai'i Pacific University is tied for 12th after the opening day of the Western Washington Invitational at the Bellingham Country Club.

Keli'iokalani Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama, the Sharks recorded a 302-296 – 598 to tie for 12th with Academy of Art, one stroke out of the 10th place tie of 597 held by Hawai'i Hilo and Northwest Nazarene. The Sharks are two in front of Cal State East Bay in 14th at 600.
Kamelamela-Dudoit toured the par 72, 6,561-yard Bellingham CC course with a 2-over 74 in the first round and a 1-over 73 in the second to end the first day at 3-over 147 to tie for 33rd. senior
Minsu Lee of San Jose, Calif./Willow Glen, carded a 2-over 74 and a three-over 75 for a 5-over 149.

Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley posted a 77-73 – 150, with sophomore
Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International putting up an 80-75 – 155 and freshman
Blake Mullen of Overland Park, Kan./Olathe East a 77-81 – 158.
Dixie State leads the field of 18 after the first day with a 568, five strokes better than the second place tie between Concordia Portland and Simon Fraser at 573.
Individually, host Western Washington's Ethan Castro has the lead after firing rounds of 3-under 69 and 5-under 67 for an 8-under 136. He's two strokes better than DSU's Spencer Wallace who paired a 1-over 73 with the low round of the tournament of 7-under 65 for a 6-under 138. SFU's Isaac Lee and Stanislaus State's Brad Sparrer are tied for third, four stroke back at 4-under 140.
The final round of the tournament has a shotgun start at 6 a.m. HST (9 a.m. PDT) at the Bellingham Country Club. The Sharks play with Cal State East Bay, Saint Martin's and Montana State Billings.
