IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University junior
Benjamin Loccisano has been named the PacWest Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
Loccisano, a 6-2 junior from Duisburg, Germany/ Staedtische Geamtschule Duisburg-Sued, helped lead the No. 9 Sharks in a split week with a 5-2 win over No. 10 Hawai'i Hilo along with a 4-2 loss to UC San Diego in action on the Big Island over the weekend.
Loccisano won both of his singles matches to improve to 6-0 on the season without having dropped any sets. The junior beat UC San Diego's Sahm Irvine 7-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. He then defeated last season's PacWest Freshman of the Year Martin Soukal at the top of the line-up, 6-4, 7-5. Hawai'i Pacific is now 4-3 on the season.
Joining Loccisano with the weekly tennis recognition is Azusa Pacific's Petra Ivankovic who earned PacWest Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
