PLEASANTON, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific University men opened the 2020 spring golf season on Monday in the Bay Area Invitational hosted by Holy Names and Cal State East Bay at the Ruby Hill Golf Club.
The Sharks posted identical first and second rounds of 305 to sit in 13th place at 610, three strokes behind Montana State Billings in 12th at 607 and eight strokes better than Holy Names B in 14th at 618.
Sophomore Keli'i Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama led the way for HPU, recording a 2-over-par 74 and a 3-over 75 on the par 72, 7,020-yard Ruby Hill course to sit in 34th at 5-over 149. Junior
Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley is a stroke behind him in 39th at 150 after a 6-over 78 followed by an even-par 72 on Monday.

Minsu Lee of San Jose, Calif./Willow Glen was steady with two rounds of 4-over 76 for an 8-over 152, while sophomore
Sirasit Prateepmongkol of Bangkok, Thailand/Ruamrudee International cared rounds of 77 and 82 for a 159 total. Sophomore
Ray Kim of Aiea, Hawai'i/Moanalua recorded an 84 and 83 for a 167. Playing as an individual, junior Thomas Purcell of Liverpool, England/St. Mary's shot rounds of 85 and 83 for a 168.
Co-host Cal State East Bay holds the team lead with a team score of 3-under 573, three strokes better than Chico State in second at even-par 576. Concordia Portland is third at 2-over 578.
Individually, Concordia Portland's Jaxson Daskalos fired rounds of 1-under 71 and 5-under 67 to lead by one stroke at 6-under 138. Teammate Viktor Olund put a 2-over 74 with a 7-under 65 to sit in a second place tie at 5-under 139 with Cal State East Bay's Ryan Hong who shot a 3-under 69 and a 2-under 70. A total of 15 players recorded two-round totals of par or better.
The tournament's final round is Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 5:30 a.m. HST (7:30 a.m. PST) on the Rudy Hill course. The Sharks will play with Holy Names (B), Notre Dame de Namur and a group of the individuals.
