SAN DIEGO – Hawai'i Pacific University women's golf team opened the 2020 Spring Season on Monday at the Point Loma Spring Invitational at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course.
The Sharks posted a team score of 358 to sit 10th in the field after the first round, 17 strokes better than Marymount California at 375 in 11th.
Sophomore
Kaley Saludares of Hilo, Hawai'i/Waiakea led the Sharks in the spring season's opening round. Saludares toured the par 72, 5,899 yard RBI course with a 7-over 79 for a tie at 17th individually. Junior
Marli Koba of Seattle/Garfield is two strokes behind her in a tie for 23rd with a 9-over 81.
Freshman Avery Paige Weil of Colorado Springs, Colo./Maclaren scored a 98 in the first round, while junior
Kassidy Dunn of Berlin, Pa./Berlin Borthersvalley posted a 100.
Sonoma State's Samantha Cabunag and Point Loma's Tabetha King are tied atop the leaderboard after both fired the only red numbers of the day at 1-under 71. Jules Loibl of Biola is third at even-par 72, with Cammie Decker of Concordia Portland fourth at 2-over 74.
Sonoma State leads the team competition with a 304 after the first round, three strokes better than Biola at 307 and Point Loma in third at 312.
The final round is set for Tuesday on the Rancho Bernardo course with a shotgun start at 6 a.m. HST (8 a.m. PST).
