TEMPE, Ariz. – Hawai'i Pacific University's
Benjamin Loccisano,
Ondrej Ctverak and
Matej Panik have been selected to the 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Men's All-America team.
Loccisano, a 6-2 junior from Duisburg, Germany, was chosen for his singles play. Ctverak, a 5-10 sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic and Panik, a 6-1 freshman from Cheb, Czech Republic, were honored as a doubles team.
Loccisano posted a 10-3 record at No. 1 singles for HPU in the COVID-19 shortened season. He led the No. 5 Sharks to a 9-6 record before the season was canceled. HPU also placed third in the inaugural ITA National Indoor Championships in February.
Loccisano was ranked third in singles in the West Region in the ITA.
The duo of Ctverak and Panik were the top ranked doubles pair in the West Region for the ITA. The pair went 8-0 as a team at No. 1 doubles for the Sharks.
Because of the shortened season, the ITA created special criteria for awarding All-America honors in 2020 that included finishes in non-NCAA counting ITA individual events as well as using unpublished individual computer rankings.
The PacWest Conference's Azusa Pacific also had a trio of All-Americans, as Samuel Sippel was chosen in singles, with Jesse Haas and Leyton Bohren tapped as a doubles squad.
