IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University's
Keita Okada has been chosen the PacWest Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for his outstanding performance over the last week by the conference office.
A sophomore from Tokyo, Japan/Bradenton, Fla. IMG Academy, the defending PacWest Champion Okada finished third at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course. He tied his own HPU school record with a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 207. His performance in the second round on Tuesday was outstanding when he fired a 4-under 66 that was one stroke off the school record for a single round. He had a 2-over 74 in the opening round and a 1-under 69 in the final round.
Okada leads the Sharks with a 70.92 stroke average and has not finished lower than third in a tournament this season. He has finished in the top four or better in eight of his 10 career collegiate tournaments.
Joining Okada with conference honors is Biola's Brady Turnquist as PacWest Women's Golfer of the Week with her victory in the Dennis Rose Women's Intercollegiate at Hapuna.
The Sharks concluded their fall season with the Dennis Rose.
