Yoshioka Repeats As PacWest Women's Soccer Defender of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University midfielder Kayli Ann Yoshioka was named the PacWest Conference Women's Soccer Defender of the Week for her outstanding play over the last week.

A 5-1 junior from Honolulu/Kaiser, Yoshioka helped the Sharks to a three-game winning streak with road victories in Northern California to improve to 4-3-1 in conference play.

Yoshioka played a key part in those three wins as the Sharks never allowed more than one goal in a match and earned a shutout against Academy of Art on Sunday. Yoshioka played nearly every minute in all three wins, including the overtime win over Dominican to open the week. The Sharks were just minutes away from a 1-0 shutout when they allowed their first goal of the week to force overtime. However, in the second overtime, Hawai'i Pacific earned a penalty kick, which was taken by Yoshioka, who scored in the 109th minute of the match to win 2-1. She also had an assist against Holy Names and then played all 90 minutes on Sunday in the shutout against Academy of Art. It was the team's third shutout this season.

Joining Yoshioka with weekly honors are Concordia Irvine's Olivia Ocampo as PacWest Women's Player of the Week.

The Sharks are in action on the mainland again on Tuesday when they visit Fresno Pacific for a PacWest contest at 2 p.m. HST (5 p.m. PDT).
