AIEA, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Pacific University women placed second and the men third in the 2021 Pearl Collegiate Classic presented by the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate that concluded Sunday at the Pearl Country Club.
The HPU women held their position after posting a final round 331 for a two-round total of 658. Division I Hawai'i won the event with a 305 on Sunday for a total of 617. Hawai'i Hilo was third at 713 after a 353 in the final round.
The HPU men slipped a spot to third despite improving from Saturday's round. The Sharks put up a final round 302 to finish at 612, three strokes behind UH Hilo in second. The Vulcans fired a 299 to edge the Sharks with a 609. Hawai'i won the team title at 585, finishing with a Sunday round of 291. The UH B team was fourth with a 618.

Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy led the HPU women, touring the par 72, 5,965 yard women's layout in 4-over-par 76 to finish third with an 11-over 155. Freshman
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain tied for fifth after a 7-over 79 on Sunday for a 161 and senior
Marli Koba of Seattle, Wash./Garfield was seventh at 166 with an 85 in the final round. Freshman
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora rounded out the HPU scoring with a 91 for a 176 total.
Hawai'i's Monica Johnson beat teammate Zoey Akagi-Bustin for the individual title. Johnson fired a 2-over 75 for a 5-over 149, edging Akagi-Bustin who carded a four-over 77 for a 7-over 151.
Sophomore Keli'i Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama, led the Sharks men posting a 5-over 149 to tie for fourth. Kamelamela-Dudoit had a 5-over 77 on Sunday. Junior
Ray Kim of Aiea, Hawai'i/Moanalua tied for seventh at 9-over 153 after a 3-over 75 in the final round. Freshman
Noah Daher of Cottonwood, Ariz./Mingus Union tied for 10th at 154, firing a 73 on the par 72, 6,787 yard Pearl championship course. Junior
Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley added a 158 with a 77 on Sunday, while sophomore
Hasee Nazir of Orange, Calif./Orange Lutheran shot a final round 80 for a 159. Playing as individuals, true freshman
Isaac Kinsman of Vancouver, Wash./Prairie added an 84 for a 163, and senior
Tom Purcell of Liverpool, England/St. Mary's tallied an 84 for a 166.
The Rainbow Warriors Kotaro Murata held on for the individual win. Murata shot an even-par 72 to win with a 5-under 139. UH Hilo's Dustin Franko fired a 5-under 67 to finish at 4-under 140. UH's Justin Arcano was third after a 2-under 70 to record a 3-over 147.
The HPU men return to action on Wednesday when they play a dual against Chaminade at Pearl Country Club.
