KA'ANAPALI, Maui, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Pacific University women are fifth after the opening round of the University of Hawai'i's Anuenue Spring Break Classic at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course on Monday.
The Sharks posted a 355 as a team, fifth behind Hawai'i Hilo at 343. UC Davis leads the event at 294, with Portland State and host Hawai'i tied for second at 305.
The Sharks were led on the day by senior
Marli Koba of Seattle, Wash./Garfield who is tied for 17th after touring the par 72, 6,020-yard course in 12-over 84. She is stroke better than junior teammate
Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy who is tied for 19th with an 85. Freshman
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora shot a 91, as freshman
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain rounded out the scoring with a 95.
UC Davis owns the top of the individual leaderboard, with Madison Wood firing a 1-under 71 to lead by a stroke over Jackie Lucena at even-par 72 and two strokes over Hannah Sun in third at 1-over 73.
The second round of the tournament is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. at the Royal Ka'anapali.
