KA'ANAPALI, Maui, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Pacific University women finished fifth at the University of Hawai'i's Anuenue Spring Break Classic at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course Wednesday.
The Sharks posted a final round 354 for a final score of 1,055, 18 strokes behind fourth place Hawai'i Hilo who tallied a 329 on Wednesday for a 1,037. UC Davis won the tournament with a final round 298 for a 14-over-par 878. Host Hawai'i finished second with a final round 302 and an 898 total, with Portland State third with a 310 for a 912.
The Sharks were led once again by the steady play of senior
Marli Koba of Seattle, Wash./Garfield who toured the par 72, 6,020-yard course with a final round 8-over 80, HPU's best round of the tournament, to place 18th at 248. Junior teammate
Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy finished tied for 21st, shooting a final round 84 for a 255 total. Freshman
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora recorded a 274 after a final round 98, with freshman
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain added a 92 for a final of 278.
UC Davis' Madison Wood fired a final round 1-over 73 to win the individual honors at 2-under 214, one stroke better than teammate Jackie Lucena with a 2-over 74 on Wednesday to finish at 1-under 215. Portland State's Jasmine Cabajar carded the only sub-par round of the day with a 1-under 71 to finish tied for third at 5-over 221 with UCD's Hannah Sun who posted a final round 3-over 75.
The Sharks are back in action next Monday and Tuesday in the Academy of Art Invitational in Napa, Calif.
