LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Hawai'i Pacific University men's and women's golf teams held their positions on Tuesday in the final round of the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawk Invitational at the Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
The HPU men finished 12th of 14 teams with a final round 312 for an overall 639. The Shark women placed eighth after a 346 in the final round for a 701.
The HPU women posted two top 20 finishes as junior
Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy shot a final round 82 to finish tied for 13th at 162, while freshman
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora had the day's best round by touring the women's par 72, 5,823 yard loop with an 81 to tie for 20th at 166. Senior
Marli Koba of Seattle, Wash./Garfield tallied a 90 for a 179 and freshman
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain had a 93 for a 194 for HPU.
Freshman
Keita Okada of Tokyo, Japan/Bradenton, Fla. IMG Academy led the HPU men, duplicating yesterday's 7-over 79 for a 158. Sophomore Keli'i Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama matched the 79 for a 160.
Junior
Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley had the best round of the tournament for the Sharks, firing a 4-over 76 on the par 72, 6,958 yard course. He finished tied with Kamelamela-Dudoit at 160. Junior
Ray Kim of Aiea, Hawai'i/Moanalua posted a 6-over 78 for a 165, and sophomore
Hasee Nazir of Orange, Calif./Orange Lutheran carded another 83 for a 166 to round out the scoring.
Western Washington and Sonoma State shot identical 303's on Tuesday to tie at 610, but WWU won the scorecard playoff for first. Cal State East Bay and Academy of Art tied at 612 for third. ART U's Julius Kreutzer won the individual title with a 3-under 69 in the final round for a 2-over 146, a stroke better than Westminster's (Utah) Bryson Hirabayashi at 147 after a 2-under 70 in the last round.
On the women's side, Sonoma State won easily with a 621 total, with Academy of Art second at 632 and Northwest Nazarene third at 659. SSU's Lexi Nielsen shot a 5-over 77 to win the event at 6-over 150. ART U's Anahi Servin carded a 1-over 73 to place second a shot back at 7-over 151.
