WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a final round 334 on Wednesday to finish sixth at 998 at the 2021 PacWest Conference Golf Championships at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course on the Big Island.
The Sharks were hampered by a mid-round injury of senior
Marli Koba of Seattle, Wash./Garfield who fought through to finish the final round of her senior season with a 91, after recording the two best rounds of her HPU career in the first two days. Koba finished tied for 17th with a 242.
Junior
Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy added her best round of the tournament on Wednesday, touring the par 70, 5,915 women's course with a 9-over-par 79 to tie with Koba for 17th at 242.
Freshmen
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain and
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora both had their best performance of the tournament on Wednesday, each shooting an 82. Marty finished with a 256, while Linder had a 258.
Point Loma won the team championship, adding a 303 in the final round for a 904 total. Academy of Art was second at 925, with Biola third at 939. Hawai'i Hilo was fourth at 954, Holy Names fifth at 968. Dominican was seventh after failing to have a team score in the second round.
ART U's Anahi Servin won her third straight PacWest Conference Individual Championship, firing a final round 3-under 67 to win the event at 2-under 208. Dominican's Claire Shubin was second at 7-over 217 with Holy Names Aubrey Corpuz third at 12-over 222.
The Sharks season comes to an end with the championship tournament.
