IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University's Keita Okada was selected the PacWest Conference Golfer Player of the Week by the conference office for his play in the Hawai'i Challenge last week.
 
The freshman from Tokyo, Japan/Bradenton Fla. IMG Academy, won his second PacWest honor in a row after winning the Hawai`i Challenge last week. The Sharks' penultimate tournament of the regular season was the perfect leadup for the freshman to the PacWest Championships, which will be played at the same site.
 
Okada shot an even-par 70 in the first round to hold second place. Then he shot a 2-under-par 68 in the second round to move into first place and win the tournament by two shots. He also helped the Sharks take second place as a team.
 
Joining Okada is the PacWest Women's Golfer of the Week, Point Loma's Nicola Kaminski.
 
The Sharks are in action once again this weekend at the Hawai'i Triangular at Pearl Country Club. The 36-hole battle features HPU, Hawai'i Hilo and Chaminade.
