INDIANAPOLIS — The Hawai'i Pacific University women's tennis team is the number five seed for next week's NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
 
The Sharks (9-3), winners of the West Region and ranked 14th in the Oracle/ITA Coaches poll, face fourth seeded Columbus State (Ga.) (16-4), winners of the Southeast Region and ranked 10th in the coaches poll at 6 a.m. HST (9 a.m. MST) in quarterfinal play on Wednesday, May 19.
 
The winner of the quarterfinal match advances to the semifinals on Thursday, May 20 at 6 a.m. HST (9 a.m. MST), against the winner of the quarterfinal between top seed Indianapolis (21-0), the Midwest Region champ and ranked No. 1 in the coaches poll, and eighth seed Saint Mary's (Texas) (17-5), the South Central champ and ranked 30th in the coaches poll.
 
The other side of the bracket features second seed Barry (Fla.) (12-0), the South winner and No. 2 in the poll, against Franklin Pierce (N.H.) (14-0), the East champ and ranked 48th, in one quarterfinal. Third seeded Central Oklahoma (20-1), the Central champ ranked No. 3, takes on sixth seeded Indiana (Pa.) (15-3), the Atlantic champ ranked 29th. The winners of those two quarters on Wednesday face each other on Thursday in the other semifinal.
 
The semifinal winners meet on Friday, May 21 in the Championship match at 6 a.m. HST (9 a.m. MST).
