TEMPE, Ariz. – The Hawai'i Pacific University women's tennis team jumped up three places to stand No. 11 in the final 2021 Oracle/ITA Division II Women's Tennis Rankings administered by Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Lauren Conching completed their season in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight with a 9-4 record in the pandemic shortened 2021 campaign. It was the fifth consecutive national quarterfinal appearance for the Sharks.
HPU also recorded a pair of All-America rankings individually. Senior
Marleen Tilgner of Seevetal, Germany ranked 10th and senior
Elodie Busson of Poille Sur Vegre, France ranked 13th in singles in the final ranking. The top 20 individuals in Division II earn All-America honors. The duo of Tilgner and senior
Mihoki Miyahara of Kitakyushu City, Japan, finished the season 14th in doubles, just missing the All-America threshold of the top 10 in Division II.
The Sharks were also ranked second in the West Region, behind No. 7 Azusa Pacific. Tilgner was the top singles player and Busson fourth in the region, with Tilgner/Miyahara the top doubles pair, while the HPU duo of Busson and sophomore
Valentina Mokrova of Aachen, Germany were ninth in the West.
National Champion Barry (Fla.) (15-0) was the unanimous No. 1 team, with the team they defeated for the national title, Indianapolis (23-1), was second. Central Oklahoma (21-2) finished third, West Alabama (17-2) fourth and West Florida (16-6) fifth. Columbus State (Ga.) (17-5), who defeated HPU 4-3 in the national quarterfinals, finished sixth. APU (16-3), who lost to HPU 4-3 in the West Region final, is seventh. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) (9-3) is eighth, Flagler (Fla.) (16-5) ninth, and Saint Leo (Fla.) 10th. HPU is next at 11th.
The PacWest is well represented in the final rankings, with Concordia-Irvine (15-5) 20th and Biola (13-8) 25th. In the final top 50, Fresno Pacific (7-10) is 31st, Academy of Art (5-7) is 36th, and Point Loma (7-9) is 44th.
