AIEA, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific University added a 330 in the second round to finish second in the season-opening HPU Sharks Shootout on Monday afternoon at Pearl Country Club.
The Sharks finished with a 657 total to finish behind the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine at 599 after a 303 on Monday. Hawai'i Hilo posted a 336 for a 673 for third, 16 strokes behind HPU. The HPU White team totaled a 354 to finish at 698.
HPU freshman
Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster, finished fourth for the tournament, but was the top Division II golfer after she circled the par 72, 6,104 yard women's Pearl layout with a 6-over-par 78 for a 10-over 154 total. HPU freshman
Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/Iolani, shot an 8-over 80 to tie for eighth at 163.
The Rainbow Wahine took the top three spots on the leaderboard, with Hana Mirnik firing an even-par 72 to win the even at 1-under 143. Momo Sugiyama put up a 4-over 76 to finish second at 5-over 149 and Focus Jonglikit added a 3-under 75 to finish at 7-over 151.
Senior
Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy, playing for the HPU White team, carded an 81 to place 11th at 166.
To finish the HPU first team, freshman
Kaylee Akagi of Mililani, Hawai'i/Punahou posted an 88 for a 169, from sophomore
Megan Marty of Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain shot an 84 for a 171 and freshman
Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson duplicated her 89 in the second round for a 178.
Freshman
Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark of the HPU White team, put up an 88 on Monday to finish at 170, while with freshman
Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View carded a 179 and sophomore
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora finished at 183.
The Sharks are idle until the end of the month when they travel to Goodyear, Ariz., to play in the RJGA Shootout at Estrella at the Golf Club at Estrella.
