Keita Okada earned PacWest Conference Men's Golfer of Week after his powerful play in two tournaments over the last week.
The defending PacWest Conference Champion Okada, a sophomore from Tokyo, Japan/Bradenton, Fla. IMG Academy, won the Saint Martin's Invitational in a playoff last Friday and Saturday, then placed second at the Western Washington Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
Okada fired a 7-under-par 209 to win the Saint Martin's Invitational, capping it with a birdie on his final hole in regulation and a birdie on the playoff hole for the win. Then he shot an even-par 144 at the Western Washington Invitational to place second in the weather-shortened tournament. Okada was under par for four of his five rounds over the two competitions, and has played par-or-better in five of his seven competitive rounds this fall.
Okada's win at Saint Martin's was his fourth individual title in his last seven tournaments dating back to last spring. The sophomore has finished top four or better in seven of his nine career collegiate tournaments.
Joining Okada as with the conference honors is Point Loma's Raquel Prado as PacWest Women's Golfer of the Week with her victory at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella.
The HPU men are off until they wrap up their fall campaign Oct. 25-27 at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort.
