IRVINE, Calif. – The PacWest Conference announced its weekly awards with men's and women's tennis claiming honors.
 
The men officially started their season this past weekend with three matchups. They went 3-0 with two 7-0 victories against Holy Names and Hilo, followed by a 6-1 win over Azusa Pacific. The squad was named the PacWest Team of the Week for the first time this season.
 
With three wins locked down, the men head all the way to Indianapolis this week for a matchup with U of Indianapolis in prep for the ITA Indoor National Championships on the weekend. The Sharks were seeded number six and will face Saint Leo University in their first-round matchup at 11:00 am EST, 6:00 am HST on Friday, Feb. 17.
 
The women swept the weekly awards for the PacWest. Shaline Pipa earned her first PacWest Player of the Week award and the team earned their first weekly Team of the Week award too.
 
After falling in their first two matchups of the year, the number four-ranked Sharks rattled off four decisive wins this past weekend.
 
Pipa went 4-0 in her singles matchups and 4-0 in doubles on court one. As a team, they swept Holy Names and Stanislaus (7-0), ran over UH Hilo (6-1), and brushed off Azusa Pacific in a rematch of last year's PacWest Championship.
 
Up next for the women will be the ITA National Indoor Championships in Kearney, Neb. They are seeded fifth and will face UIndy in the first round on Friday, Feb. 24 at 2:30 pm CT, 10:30 am HT.
