Women’s Volleyball Defeated By UH-Manoa

Honolulu, HI (11/5/10) – In front of a crowd of nearly 6,000 fans, the HPU women's volleyball team delivered a strong showing but fell to the University of Hawai'i, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-22). HPU falls to 17-6 while the fourth-ranked Rainbow Wahine improves to 23-1.

Kyra Pelayo tallied 12 digs to lead HPU on the defensive end, with Kelly Balanay adding nine kills. Chanteal Satele led UH with eight kills and four blocks.

After falling in game one, HPU posed very little threat in dropping game two, 25-7. UH used a pair of 7-0 runs to win going away.

The third game saw the Sea Warriors come alive. They trailed 16-10 before a trio of kills by Balanay brought HPU to within 17-15. Late in the game Sanoe Recca cut the lead to 23-21 with one of her six kills before UH won the next two points to complete the sweep.

Tricia Yoshimura recorded 10 digs for HPU, and Natasha Bell added seven kills and seven digs.

The Sea Warriors return to conference play on Saturday, November 13, as they host UH-Hilo for their regular season finale. First serve at Saint Andrew's Priory is set for 7:00 p.m.
