Men’s Tennis Wins Third in a Row

Waipahu, HI (March 29, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team (9-3) beat the University of Hawaii-Hilo 8-1 at Central Oahu Regional Park. HPU took all four meetings with UHH this season by a total score of 31-1.  

HPU was challenged in doubles action, taking two out of three. Petr Michnev and Patric Guenther continued their winning ways at first doubles with an 8-5 triumph. Gerald Moretti and Ji Hoon Heo doubled up the competition with an 8-4 win.

HPU swept singles play highlighted by three dominating performances. Michnev won 6-0, 6-3, Moretti won 6-3, 6-0 and Heo cruised 6-0, 6-2. Stephan Weling also won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Georgi Yordanov won in a tiebreaker at second singles and Sari Alotaibi came from behind after dropping a close first set to win in a tiebreaker.

HPU will face Division I UC Davis on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the University of Hawaii Tennis Complex.
