Box Score HONOLULU, HI (December 7, 2013)—The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (3-1, 2-0) picked up its second Pacific West Conference victory in a 81-69 victory over Chaminade (1-5, 1-1) on Saturday night.

The game was a fast paced defensive battle early as both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop. The Sea Warriors maintained a steady five to 10 point lead throughout the first half, but the Silverswords kept it close by hitting five three-pointers in the opening frame. HPU would take 36-28 lead and the momentum to the break when
Laken McClelland hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

While HPU only shot 39.5% (15-38) from the field, its defense was solid holding the Silverswords to 33.3% on 11 for 33 shooting.

After struggling from long range in the first half, the Sea Warriors picked it up in the second hitting four three-pointers in the first six minutes of the second half. The Sea Warriors pushed their led to double-digits after a three-pointer by
Skye Savini with 14 minutes to play in the half. The lead eventually grew to 15 points after back-to-back three-pointers by
Brittany Hale with four minutes to play.

Chaminade would close the gap to 10, but failed to pose a serious threat down the stretch as HPU took the 81-69 victory.

Shianne Solomon led all scorers with 19 points while Savini put in another strong performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Mikela Thoemmes was huge on the glass for HPU pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds while also dishing out five assists.

The Sea Warriors return to action December 14th against BYU-Hawaii at Moanalua High School. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
