Box Score HONONLULU, HI (January 11, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (9-4, 5-2) picked up its second straight conference victory Saturday night, dominating Chaminade (1-11, 1-5) 103-68 at Moanalua High School.
The first half was an impressive performance for the PacWest's highest scoring offense as HPU put 52 points on the board in the first frame. Just as impressive was the defensive intensity of the Sea Warriors with the 'Swords being held to 18.8% (6-32) shooting from the field in the first half.
Senior
Skye Savini gave the Sea Warriors the lead for good with a jumper just four minutes into the game.
Brittany Hale made the lead double-digits on a breakaway layup following a
Morganne Comstock block with 13:36 remaining in the half. Savini pushed the lead to 20 with 4:29 to play in the half with an elbow jumper and
Ingvild Skorpen
gave the Sea Warriors a 26 point advantage with her first field goal of the season in the closing seconds of the half.
With a 40-point lead much of the second half, the HPU coaching staff was able to rest several of its key players while getting playing time for others. In fact, all but one Sea Warrior would score and see double-digit minutes in the game.
Comstock finished her monster week off strong, registering another double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds in just 22 minutes of work. Hale and
Veanne Navarro each scored 17 for HPU while Savini (14), Nagy (10), and Solomon (10) each scored in double-figures.
With the long home stand completed the Sea Warriors now hit the road for a four-game mainland swing that will see them play Dominican, Notre Dame de Namur, Fresno Pacific and Holy Names. Game one of the trip will be against Dominican on January 18
th. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PST.
