Box Score HONOLULU, HI (February 1, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (12-6, 8-4) fell to Azusa Pacific (13-5, 11-1) by the score of 82-76 at Moanalua High School Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars jumped out to a big lead in the first half, going up by as many as 19 points with 3:57 remaining in the half. The Sea Warriors fought back, closing the half on an 11-2 run. Still, HPU had work to do, trailing 44-34 at the break.
APU stretched its lead out to 14 early in the second half, but the Sea Warriors responded.
Skye Savini hit a three-pointer with 8:40 to play to cut the Cougars lead to one, but HPU would get no closer as three-point shooting and clutch free throws down the stretch sealed the deal for Azusa.
Morganne Comstock had another huge night for the Sea Warriors with 24 points and 13 boards along with four assists and two blocks.
Savini finished with 16 points and three assists while
Brittany Hale played well with 11 points and five helpers in 32 minutes.
The Sea Warriors return to action on Monday when they face California Baptist at the Neal Blaisdell Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
