Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, CA (February 21, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Softball Team (1-7, 1-7) dropped both games of a doubleheader against California Baptist (16-3, 7-1) on Friday night. The Sea Warriors were tripped up in game one 9-0 and fell in game two 8-7.
The Lancers jumped out to a two-run lead in the second inning and never looked back. The Sea Warriors put runners in scoring position in each of the first five innings, but failed to find a breakthrough RBI hit. With two runs in the bottom of the sixth the Lancers took a 9-0 lead and ended the game after six innings.
Game two was a much closer game, but it was the Lancers again jumping out to an early advantage.
Trailing 4-0 in the top of the fourth, HPU scored a run on a Nicole Vienna RBI double. CBU answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Sea Warriors put together a six-run seventh to take a 7-6 lead.
A leadoff walk in the bottom half came back to haunt the Sea Warriors as Cal Baptist right fielder London Miller hit a walk-off home run to give CBU the 8-7 win.
Chelsea Cramer led the way for HPU with two RBI and a 3-7 performance at the plate.
Dorian Acierto also had a good day at the plate, going 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Sea Warriors will now head to St George, Utah for a two-game series against Dixie State on February 23rd. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
