Women’s Basketball Back on Winning Track at Home

Box Score HONOLULU, HI (February 22, 2014)— The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (15-9, 11-7) picked up an 87-63 victory against Notre Dame de Namur (5-19, 4-14) at Moanalua High School on Saturday afternoon.
 
HPU thoroughly dominated the Argos throughout the game, besting the visitors in all three shooting categories.  HPU continued its season long assault at the foul stripe, converting on 11-14 (78.6%) opportunities.
 
After a Brittany Hale long ball with 6:46 to go, HPU had its largest lead of the night at 69-43.
 
It was a complete team effort, with every Sea Warrior seeing at least five minutes. After a scoring drought on the last road trip, HPU was back to its old ways. Ten of the eleven Sea Warriors registered at least three points.
 
Ieva Nagy led all competitors with 19 points, aided by four three-point hits. The senior Australian also had a game-high seven rebounds. Morganne Comstock (12), Shianne Solomon (12), and Veanne Navarro (10) joined Nagy in double-figures scoring club. Laken McClelland and Skye Savini were right behind with eight points each.
 
Comstock had her seven game double-double streak stopped, but she contributed in all facets of the game. The junior had six rebounds, a game-high five assists, three blocks and a steal.    
 
The Sea Warriors have two regular season games remaining with their PacWest Tournament seed still undecided. HPU will host Fresno Pacific on Monday at the Neal Blaisdell Center before ending the season in Hilo on March 1st.
