Comstock Double Dips Again, Second Half Propels Women’s Basketball

Box Score HONOLULU, HI (February 3, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (13-6, 9-4) picked up an 80-75 victory against visiting California Baptist (10-10, 8-6) on Saturday night.
 
The first half was a back and forth affair featuring six ties and nine lead changes.
 
Cal Baptist stretched its lead out to five, but the Sea Warriors responded to take a two-point lead with 1:59 to play in the half. CBU answered with an 8-2 run to close the half to take a six-point lead.
 
The Sea Warrior offense came alive in a second half that featured seven more ties and seven lead changes.
 
HPU took the lead for good with 7:54 to play after four straight points from Shianne Solomon. A three-pointer and two foul shots from Laken McClelland in the closing minutes sealed the deal for the Sea Warriors.
 
Solomon lead the way in the scoring department with 19 points while McClelland was close behind with 18.
 
Center Morganne Comstock continues to be one of the best rebounders in the PacWest after grabbing 17 rebounds to go along with 13 points. That makes 10 double-doubles on the year for the Seattle native and her third in a row.
 
After the short home stand the Sea Warriors now face a four-game road trip beginning with BYU-Hawaii in Laie on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
