Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KANEOHE, HI (March 16, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Softball Team (11-13, 11-11) split a doubleheader with Academy of Art at Howard A Okita Field Sunday afternoon. The Sea Warriors took game one 7-2, but fell in game two 4-3.

HPU got on the board first with a run in the opening frame and broke the game open in the third inning by putting up five runs

Toni Baysa began the fifth with a walk before a Sharae Esprecion smashed two-run home run to deep left field to make it 3-0 Sea Warriors. Charisse Tanabe capped off the inning with a bases clearing three-RBI triple to give HPU a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Urban Knights scored a pair of runs in the sixth, but HPU starter Chandell Dacosin was too strong down the stretch, picking up the complete game victory after allowing just one earned run on five hits.

Academy of Art struck first in game one with a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Sea Warriors matched with a pair of their own in the bottom half.  The Urban Knights took the lead in the fourth inning and held the two run lead heading to the bottom of the seventh.

Down by two in the bottom of the seventh, Dacosin knocked in Dorian Acierto who walked earlier in the inning to cut the lead to one. HPU worked a pair of runners into scoring position with one out, but Urban Knight right fielder Jessica West made a running catch and threw out the Sea Warrior runner who was attempting to tag from third base to end the game.

Dacosin not only picked up her seventh win on the mound for the Sea Warriors, she also contributed four RBI and a run scored on four hits. Esprecion finished with two RBI to go along with two runs scored.

The Sea Warriors will step out of PacWest play on March 18th to face Lubbock Christian at Howad A Okita Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
