Offensive Outburst: Softball Scores 19 Runs in Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KANEOHE, HI (March 4, 2014)- The Hawai`i Pacific Softball Team (5-9, 5-9) picked up a sweep over Notre Dame de Namur (8-12, 2-5) in its first home games of the season on Tuesday. The Sea Warriors won game one 10-0 in six innings and picked up a second mercy rule victory 9-1 in five innings in game two.

HPU jumped out an early 4-0 lead with a four-run outburst in the second inning.
The Sea Warriors picked up two more runs in the fifth with a Chandell Dacosin two-RBI triple and finished off the Argonauts in the sixth with a bases clearing, walk-off, RBI double from Dorian Acierto to make the final score 11-1.

HPU ace Kristen Caskey picked up her second victory in as many starts by spreading five hits over six innings while striking out two batters.

In game two, it was the Argonauts who struck first with a run in the opening frame.
The Sea Warriors answered with two runs in the bottom half of the first inning on a Kayla Sanchez sacrifice fly and added three more in third inning from back-to-back homeruns from Acierto and Sanchez.

With the score 5-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, HPU added the four runs it needed for its second mercy rule win of the afternoon, taking game two 9-1.

Dacosin had a magnificent day at the plate as well as in the circle by going 3-5 at the dish with two RBI and a run scored. She also picked up the victory in game two by giving up just four hits in five innings while allowing just one earned run.

Acierto finished the day with five RBI and two runs scored while Toni Baysa knocked in three runs and scored a pair herself.

The Sea Warriors busy week continues with a doubleheader against Holy Names on March 6th at Howard A. Okita Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
