IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University midfielder
Brittny Ihara has been selected as the PacWest Conference Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week for her outstanding play last week for the Sharks.
The 4-11 freshman from Pearl City, Hawai'i/Pearl City scored her first goals of the season by scoring the Sharks two goals in a pair of 1-1 ties this week.
Ihara's 88th minute goal against Holy Names was her first of the season and forced the tie, while her 19th minute goal was the opening score in the Sharks 1-1 tie with Academy of Art. She is tied for third on the team in goals and has a total of five points on the season.
Joining Ihara in the PacWest weekly awards are Fresno Pacific's Mackenzie Reynolds as the PacWest Player of the Week and Concordia's Kaelyn Whitcomb as the Defender of the Week.
The Sharks have their final road contest on Tuesday when they visit Ramierez Field to face Fresno Pacific at 4:30 p.m. HST (7:30 PDT). HPU closes the 2018 soccer season on Saturday at the Waipio Soccer Stadium when the Sharks host Chaminade at 7 p.m. The Senior Day contest follows the men's game that starts at 4:30 p.m.
