Ebony Madrid was named the PacWest Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week thanks to her heroic play last week.
Madrid, a senior from Porterville, Calif./Ramstein (Germany), led the Sharks to a come-from-behind double-overtime win at Hawai'i Hilo by turning a second half hat trick for a 3-2 win. She netted the game-winning goal with 17 seconds left in the second golden-goal overtime period. It was the first hat trick in the PacWest Conference this season. Madrid also scored a goal in HPU's 2-2 tie with Chaminade to total four goals for the week.
Madrid leads the Sharks with seven goals and three assists on the season, leading the PacWest with 17 points. She is second in the conference in goals and leads the league in assists.
Madrid also leads active PacWest players with 19 career goals.
Joining Madrid with weekly honors are Notre Dame de Namur goalkeeper Alexis Aguilar as PacWest Defender of the Week, and Concordia Irvine's Analisa Gjonovich as PacWest Freshman of the Week.
The Sharks open PacWest Conference play on Friday against Notre Dame de Namur. The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. Sunday the Sharks host UH Hilo in conference play at Noon in a match moved to Waipio Field 5 for stadium field maintenance.
