HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific women's basketball closed its home matchup against Concordia Irvine with a dominant fourth-quarter performance, powering to a 70–62 victory on Saturday afternoon. The game stayed tight from the opening tip — featuring 10 ties and 10 lead changes — before the Sharks delivered their strongest stretch of the night to pull away late and improve to 6–12 overall and 5–7 in PacWest play.
HPU opened with efficient shooting in the first quarter, hitting 6-of-14 from the field and converting all four free-throw attempts to take an early edge. After cooling off in the second period, the Sharks regrouped after halftime and found their rhythm again, setting up a decisive push in the final 10 minutes. Once the fourth quarter began, HPU took full control, outscoring the Golden Eagles 27–15 behind timely perimeter shooting, transition scoring, and a renewed defensive presence that held CUI to just 4-of-12 shooting.
Mia Frye set the tone throughout the night, finishing with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, while shooting 5-of-8 in 35 minutes. Off the bench, Kyla Hopton knocked down three triples and provided 13 points to spark the offense. Mya Hatchett added 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and Kalysa Ng contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds, including two made threes. In the paint, Alana Roberts controlled the glass with a team-high 9 rebounds and added 7 points as HPU edged CUI on the boards, 31–30.
The Sharks' efficiency in key moments carried them through the final stretch, shooting 60% overall and 66.7% from three in the fourth quarter while finishing the night at 80% from the free-throw line. Their ability to get out in transition made a difference as well, earning a 19–8 advantage in fast-break points to complement a 30–20 edge in points in the paint. HPU also received strong production from its bench, totaling 26 points.
