The 1990 Volleyball Team won the first NAIA National Championship for Hawai'i Pacific University. Coach Nahaku Brown's Sea Warriors posted a 23-7 record on the way to the championship. After falling in the District 29 championship match, HPU received its third at-large bid into the NAIA Championships. The Sea Warriors did not drop a set through the quarterfinals. But they had to battle back from an 0-2 deficit to Western Washington in the semifinals to win in five. In the national championship match, HPU lost the opening set to Texas Wesleyan, then took the next three for the crown as Gaby Arigas took MVP honors.
