Box Score NAMPA, ID (November 15, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Basketball Team (1-1) lost its first game of the season to Central Washington (1-1) 68-63 on a neutral floor in the final game of the NNU Tip-Off Classic.  

A day after hitting 14 three-pointers, HPU went dry from the outside connecting on just four of 18 attempts. However, HPU still had its chances.

The first half was very close with neither team leading by double-figures at any point. The Sharks seized momentary control when Taylor Blake hit a layup to put HPU up eight points with 8:21 left in the opening half. CWU kept coming and tied the game with 25 second to play before the half; the Wildcats then got a steal and hit a three at the buzzer to lead by three at the break.

HPU tied the game and took a brief lead early in the second half, but CWU responded and held the lead until late. With 5:26 to go, Chenise Peone hit a deep ball to give HPU a 59-58 lead. The lead grew to four at 63-59 when Morganne Comstock hit a jumper with 3:12 left. However, the Sharks did not score again as the 'Cats ended the game on a 9-0 run.

Comstock led everyone with 22 points and led HPU with seven boards. Kylie Huerta was again strong with 15 points and seven assists; so far she has played every minute of the season.

HPU next welcomes Minnesota-Crookston to Moanalua High School on November 23rd at 4:30 pm.
