Hawaii Pacific University Athletics

Sariah Salazar joins the Sharks cheer team in her first year from Pueblo, Colorado. The 4-foot-11 athlete is pursuing a degree in Psychology at Hawai'i Pacific.

Salazar comes to HPU after attending East High School in Pueblo, where she competed in cheerleading and tennis under coaches Laurie Valdez and Alorah Saldana-Vigil. She earned a varsity cheerleading letter and was recognized for leadership and academics. She was also involved in student council and the yearbook.

Salazar chose HPU because she wanted to experience something completely new, grow as a person and challenge herself, and she loved the atmosphere, the location and the opportunity to be part of the Shark community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, listening to music, trying new foods and going on adventures. Looking ahead, she hopes to be thriving in her career and exploring the world. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, and is the daughter of Nativa. She has a stepfather, Armando, and three younger brothers, Armando, Cruz and Ezekiel.
