Ashlynn Mahelona joins the Sharks cheer team in her first year from Mililani, Hawai'i. The 5-foot-5 back and side base is pursuing a degree in Global Business at Hawai'i Pacific.

Mahelona comes to HPU after attending Mililani High School, where she competed in cheerleading as a back and side base under coach Amber Sistoza-Awong. She was a two-time All-American, selected by USA in 2024 and the National Cheerleaders Association in 2025. She was also a two-time OIA West All-Star First Team selection (2024 and 2025), a member of the 2024 HHSAA Cheerleading All-Tournament Team and a 2025 Poly Bowl cheerleader.

Mahelona chose HPU for the opportunities it offers toward her career goals and the chance to stay close to home. In her free time, she enjoys reading, solving puzzles and taking pictures. Looking ahead, she hopes to be in San Francisco working as a project planner for a hospitality or tourism company. She was born in Boise, Idaho, and is the daughter of Stephanie and Shaun. She has an older sister, Mia, two younger brothers, Micah and Banks, and a younger sister, Makayla.
